With the US Open set to begin Sunday, and Fan Week well underway at Flushing Meadows, tennis fans are gearing up for another exciting edition of the tournament. Nicole Kankam, the USTA’s managing director of pro tennis marketing and entertainment, joined “Mornings on 1” to share her thoughts about what to expect this year.

As always, there are plenty of intriguing matchups to look forward to. Venus Williams returns to Grand Slam action at 45 years old and will team up with Carlos Alcaraz in mixed doubles. Amanda Anisimova is fresh off her Wimbledon victory, and Coco Gauff is one of several top-10 U.S. players looking to build on their success in New York.

Qualifying matches will get underway Aug. 18 and run through Aug. 22. The main draw of the US Open starts on Aug. 24, and the final will take place Sept. 7.

The USTA is making a major change to the tournament’s schedule this year, with the opening rounds being spread out over three days instead of two. The move will align with other Grand Slams, including the Australian Open, which switched to a weekend start last year.

For those unable to make it to Queens, there is plenty of on-demand coverage to check out. In addition to traditional broadcasts on ESPN and ESPN2, you can also watch every match live on the US Open app, which features a full lineup of live streams of every court at Arthur Ashe Stadium, Louis Armstrong Stadium and all the other courts around the grounds.
